below is a list of various works of net art (or at times debatably only history) from across the world wide web. some of it is frightening. some of it is plain. some of it is purposefully malfunctioning. some of it is mind-bendingly strange. some of it is cerebral. some of it (which i will tag) is vulgar. some of it is confusing. most of it is confusing. all of it is beautiful. prepare your eyes for the best thing since sliced pornography
when someone asks me what net art is i immediately show them mouchette.org. in the same vein, when someone asks me what the strangest site i've ever seen is i immediately show them mouchette.org. certainly there are some places that are similarly strange but nobody really gets to me the way mouchette does
back a bit before donnie darko came out there was an interactive flash site that was a bit like the strange adventure that is the movie but fairly unique in its own way. see how far you can get through it. its better with the lights off though it isn't particularly frightening
a small project by some web and graphic designers. point and click through a series of rooms in what appears to be an abandoned warehouse. looks like a place i'd like to explore irl
ana somnia is another of many beautiful flash projects that continues to grace the face of the internet. a view into the mind of a dreaming young girl that would be enough to give me insomnia
armacham corporate is a flash site that is the front end to the fear 2 alternate reality game. do a bit of research to get into it. fairly strange the further you get and a good arg for the most part
jodi is an art collective that uses all sorts of creative bits of code that invoke dynamic graphical errors to make what is usually a very cool display of art. it changes occasionally by the week maybe
i aim to remediate the problem that the title of this site claims. its got a bit of good stuff, but don't trust the javascript heavy links. too many popups for my taste
what is likely a sister site (or possibly the originator) of the last real net art museum and is in my opinion much better. many links to related works of net art
i have a fond memory of inkoddi and his flash loops. he was the first person to make me appreciate chiptune outside video games by combining catchy yet usually short tunes with his goofy and always amusing loops. i miss him dearly
a series of geocities-ish webpages that contain a small webcomic-like-thing. the pages interact with your reading of the comic. cute if not anything else
